spring break 2008...

heading back out of the prairie dog hole

Well, things have been chugging right along here at the Lyons' Den. We've been slogging our way through Spring Break and managing to have a pretty good time doing it. Last weekend Lynn and Logan went to the Texas Pinball Festival where they had a great time geeking out on pinball and old school video games. Caleb, Molly and I flew down to Houston to visit Aunt Katie and Uncle Aaron and my aunts Liz and Patty too. Among lots of other fun stuff, we made our way to the zoo, the mini train at Hermann Park and the Cockrell Butterfly Center at the Houston Museum of Natural Science. We all spent Monday in coma and then Tuesday it rained ALL DAY. Wednesday we met Lynn for lunch and then picked up some Easter goodies on the way home. Today we're making the best of playing inside (because everything is swampy around these parts still) while anxiously awaiting weekend visitors.

At some point this week(end) I am going to do something creative! Aside from chasing my kids around with the camera I haven't done anything creative in a long time. To jumpstart myself I signed up for Regina's notecard swap. I participated the first year and sent these little girls in as my contribution. Last year I had to skip it because I was busy incubating this little girl:

trucking

Of course now I'm busy chasing this little girl but that's okay because she and her brothers are generally fun to chase.

Well, I better run, there's still dusting and vacuuming to do (isn't there always? ugh.) and little kid wrangling to take care of before company gets here.

Hope everyone is well! I'll be back in a couple days with news of the weekend (big, exciting things going on!) and a report on any artsy endeavors that transpire. Take care!!

dear janie and jack...

You're making it really hard for me to choose: feed the baby or clothe the baby...honestly. With things like this and this and this it's a tough decision.

I jest, of course, but seriously, every time I get an email from them I drool all over my keyboard.

to dream...

If money were no object I would have two of these built or maybe a condo type set up. One for me to use as a studio and one for the kids too.

yes please...

Take some time and wander through this artist's portfolio. It's all really wonderful stuff, but the pendants and brooches make me want one of each. Especially this one.

snowed in...

honest to God, we're snowed in at our house.

a touch of snow

Snow has flooded our street so that there is now an even blanketing across everyone's yards. I couldn't get my car into the garage because the driveway is iced over. Oh and Lynn decided to follow other people taking a "short cut" off the interstate and got stranded. I should also add that Lynn never takes a coat with him and may or may not have appropriate foot wear on for trudging through sloshy snow.

Okay, so he just walked in the door safe (thank God), but soaking wet and wearing socks and open toed Crocs. Thankfully two people stopped to offer him rides along the way and on top of that he got out and helped two people get their cars turned around before making it home in one piece.

What a day!!
