Supplies:
  • 8 ½ inch X 11 inch foundation (muslin, onsaburg)
  • 8 ½ inch X 11 inch batting or felt
  • DMC #5 Pearl Cotton in:
  • Sharp embroidery needle
  • Vanishing ink pen
  •  
  • 310 for divider lines, eyes, lettering
  • 319 for apple leaf
  • 355 for girl's grin
  • 498 for red (odd) flag stripes, "A", apple and girl's collar
  • 738 for beige (even) flag stripes
  • 783 for star and "C"
  • 801 for girl's hair and apple stem
  • 930 for blue star panel, "B" and girl's shirt
Instructions:
  • Using a backlight source (light box or a sunny window) center pattern on foundation and trace pattern with vanishing ink pen.
  • Pin or tack foundation to batting.
  • Back stitch all divider lines and "1+2=3" with 310.
  • Back stitch apple leaf with 319 and girl's grin with 355.
  • Back stitch red (odd)flag stripes, "A", girl's collar and the apple with 498.
  • Back stitch beige (even) flag stripes with 738.
  • Back stitch girl's hair and apple stem with 801.
  • Back stitch star panel, "B" and the girl's shirt with 930.
  • To finish: the stitchery can be made into a pillow or a quick log cabin quilted frame can be sewn around the edges for a wall hanging. If you need help with anything, just email me at Amy@aplcreations.com!
