a gentle reminder...

do not underestimate the will power of a four month old girl.

Molly turned four months old last Saturday and naturally she's been busy showing off how fancy she can be. In the last month she's perfected flipping from tummy to back and back to tummy, and I'm pretty sure she's figured out that she can relocate herself with the rolling. She's really trying to sit up...any time she is in a reclining position she'll raise her head and shoulders up struggling to sit vertically. She is extremely interested in what we drink and eat too. Last weekend we started her on rice cereal and it is safe to say she is not a fan. We're mixing a teaspoon of cereal up for her twice a day. Some days she does really well getting it to go in the right direction and other days she pretty much wears her meal instead. She is loving her Wee Gallery animal cards. When I need to put her in her crib for containment purposes I line her crib with the cards and she'll prop herself up on her elbows to look at all the images. She talks to them and squeals at them and most of the time manages to scoot up to them and knock them out of the crib. I think my ploy to occupy her while putting up laundry, showering or any other task requiring my full attention has backfired on me though.

where's the baby?

At 8:45 this morning I put Molly on the quilt for some floor time like I do every morning. As usual, I proceeded to check my email. At 8:50 I realized her baby yammering was emanating from a completely different location than it normally does. Off to investigate...

seconds from sticking her tongue in the socket

Low and behold, in five minutes this child managed to scoot herself six and a half paces* from where she began.

* one of my (normal gate) paces is roughly 24 inches. That's 13 feet!

We have been discussing getting new stair gates put back up in recent weeks and I bet you can guess what I'll be doing after we run our errands today. Never a dull moment at our place!

Oh, before I forget, I whipped up some more baby goodness last night too. It's for a friend's baby, but Molly is modeling for me:

I need to get a card made and get these out in today's mail! I'm such a procrastinator...sigh.
