windmills...

Windmills of the gargantuan kind anyway. You'll come across these wind plant fields on Highway 277 just north of Bronte. From what I can gather, they are part of the Nolan County phase one or two.

These things are impressively huge. You'll notice the size comparison between the telephone poles and the windmills...HOOGANTIC. Driving back and forth between San Angelo and Denton we often see eighteen wheelers trucking one piece of the base or a blade or two. If you ever go through Coleman on your way to San Angelo, drive past the airport. They store the silo base pieces there right next to the highway so you can really get a sense of the size.
